2020: The 2020 high school baseball season was cancelled the week before pitcher and catchers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While this decision was difficult to make, it was in the best interests of all of those involved. The Redhawks would of been a force to be reckon with once again, as they would of been senior heavy with 10 seniors on their roster. We wish the following seniors the best as they move onto the next journey in life: Calvin Wuthrich, Ryan Anderson, Jacob Boliba, Baker Angstman, Lars Jensen, Jackson Neme, Jonah Roberts, Gus Lunde, Jackson Konowitz and Storm Rushford.
2019: The CVU Redhawks captured the program's fourth state championship with an 5-2 triumph over #10 Mt. Mansfield at historic Centennial Field. They finished the season with the best record in program history, 18 wins and 1 loss, including season sweeps over Essex, South Burlington, Rice Memorial, and St. Johnsbury. Their only loss coming to Mt. Mansfield on senior day, however with the ups and downs, members of this year's teams have experienced, the motto "Hope" to help motivate and lead this team to success and victory. Gatorade Player of the Year: Ian Parent, Coach of the Year: Tim Albertson, Metro Player of the Year: Ian Parent, Most Home Runs: Aidan Johnson, Most RBI's: Aidan Johnson. First Team Pitcher: Storm Rushford & Ian Parent, First Team 3rd Baseman: Aidan Johnson, First Team Designated Hitter: Ryan Eaton, First Team Outfield: Jonah Roberts, UTL: Jacob Murphy. Second Team Second Baseman: Tyler Skaflestad, Second Team Outfield: Brendan Tivnan. Honorable Mention: Baker Angstman and Jacob Boliba.
2018: Led by a experienced senior class and strong sophomore class, the Redhawks clinched the Metro League crown with a 13-1 record (15-1 record). There only loss was a 1-0 defeat in eight innings as they cruised through one of the toughest schedules in the state. CVU earned the #1 seed for the first time since 2015, but the championship hopes ended with the one and only "hiccup" of the season at the hands of St. Johnsbury. This year's team was known for their grind and grit no matter the circumstances which led to their overall successful season. Coach of the Year: Tim Albertson. First Team: Liam Reiner (P), Jake Bortnick (C), Aidan Johnson (3B). Second Team: Kyle Rivers (P), Hank Caswell (P), Jonah Roberts (OF). Honorable Mention: Jacob Murphy and Tyler Skaflestad.
2017: This year marked the sixth consecutive year collecting at least 10 wins, finishing with an 13-5 record. CVU started in dominant fashion, knocking off Rutland, St. Johnsbury and Essex, as majority of the games were very close games. We earned the #3 seed, but only made it to the quarterfinals, as we were upset by a red-hot #6 Burlington squad in an back-and-forth affair. This team was known for their youth but spunk, showing a bright future for the varsity squad. First Team: Hunter Anderson (P). Second Team: Kyle Rivers (P), Liam Reiner (3B). Honorable Mention: Jake Bortnick and Chris O'Brien.
2016: The Redhawks finished the 2016 season with another impressive record fo 14-4, as they lost a close quarter-final game against the eventual runner-up, Burr & Burton. CVU earned the #4 seed, guided by their impressive 1.91 ERA and 0.360% average as a team. This team was known for their work ethic, always wanting to improve on every aspect of the game, no matter the scenario. First Team: Andrew Bortnick (P). Second Team: Tanner Smith (2B), Jack Dugan (OF), Jacob Griggs (OF), Liam Reiner (P). Honorable Mentions: Chris O'Brien and Sam Mikell.
2015: The Redhawks finished the season of 2015 with an stellar 18-2, as they finished as the Vermont State Division I runner-up, losing in extra innings to Rice Memorial. CVU earned the #1 seed by outscoring their opponents 185-34, allowing the fewest earned runs in program history, and finished a second straight year with an run differential over +100 runs. This team was known for its dominance on the mound and at the plate, as they usually ended up grinding out every run early and often, and only losing two games, which both ended up going into extra innings. Player of the Year: Rayne Supple. Coach of The Year: Tim Albertson. First Team: Will Potter (P), Shea Ireland (INF), Deagan Poland (OF). Second Team: Sam Mikell (P) and Honorable Mention, Dan Poodiack and Landon Carpenter.
2014: The Redhawks finished the season of 2014 with an 15-4 record with an heartbreaking semi-final game loss against the eventual champions, Rice Memorial. CVU earned the #2 seed by outscoring their opponents 199-47, allowing the fewest earned runs in program history. This year's team was known for not letting up, and getting ahead early. First Team: Kyle Stanley (P), Rayne Supple (P), Sam Mikell (3B), Deagan Poland (OF). Second Team: Hayden Smith (C), Will Bernicke (1B). Honorable Mention: Erik Bergkvist and Will Potter. CVU's Rayne Supple and Deagan Poland also captured league awards, Supple for leading the Metro in RBI's, and Poland leading the Metro in stolen bases.
2013: The Redhawks finished the season 16-4, capturing the program's third State Championship. CVU becomes the first D1 baseball program to win consecutive crowns in over 25 years. It was capped off by winning the longest D1 baseball game in history, defeating #1 Essex 4-3 in 11 innings at historic Centennial Field. The Redhawks known for their relentlessness, comebacks in over half of their games, including two in the playoffs. First Team: Davis Mikell (P), Second Team: Dylan Ireland (P), Kirk Fontana (C), Rayne Supple (P), and Kyle Stanley (P). Honorable Mentions: Hayden Smith and Will Potter.
2012: The Redhawks finished the 2012 season 18-2, capturing the program's first Metro Title and the program's second State Championship. The Redhawks outscored their opponents (North Country, South Burlington, Colchester, and BFA-St. Albans) 28-3, allowing only one one earned run in the playoffs. 2008: CVU finished the year with a 10-8 record, losing to SB 9-2. Starting and losing pitcher went 4 innings. In the previous game, the 'Hawks defeated BHS 4-3 in 8 innings. Mike Porzucek drove in Andrew Sweeny with a double. Injuries, errors, and illness plagued CVU all season. Shane Montani and Justin Teator were named second team All-Metro while Pat Ittleman and Andrew Sweeny were honorable mention. Coach Johnson resigned with a 39-18 record @ Varsity and 105-38 @ JV.
2007: CVU finished the year with a 16-4 record. They lost to SB in the finals 3-0. Starter Nick Angstman[and reliever Whit Mikell] threw a one hitter. CVU had 3 hits including a second inning double by Ian Dudley. Angstman was 1 of 2 players nominated for Metro player of the year. Along with Handy, Angstman was a first team All-Metro player. Whit Mikell was again a second team selection. Ian Dudley and Justin Teator were honorable mention. Field work included a new sound system, protective fence in front of both dugouts, additional fence topping, pads for the backstop, and on-deck circles.
2006: CVU finished with a 13-6 record, losing in the semifinals 2-1. Junior Paul Handy went pitch for pitch with Casey Harman and CVU was not able to push across the tying and winning runs in the 7th after getting 2 men on base with no one out. Jake Mendell , Ken Murakami, and Whit Mikell were selected second team All-Metro. Dave Matthews and Matt Gannon were honorable mention. The season was highlighted by a great 9-7 win over MMU in the quaterfinals, Gannon's 2 out, pinch hit homer against MAU, and Gannon's no-hitter of Spaulding in the last regular season game. A new permanent fence was installed.
2005: Senior Taylor Mikell led CVU with a .468 average and 20 RBIs this season. Mikell and Mike Michaud were nominated to the VT North All-Star team with Michaud reprenting CVU. Dave Matthews led Varsity on the mound with a 1.55 ERA winning two games and pitching in four very tough losses. Matt Gannon emerged on the mound with a 2.02 ERA and sported a 3-0 record. The season was highlighted by a trip to Cooperstown, NY with Essex to play at Doubleday Field and tour the Hall of Fame and numerous field improvements in new dugouts, infield screens, infield fill, new uniforms, team bags, expansion of the CVU Baseball Web site. 2004: Varsity returned to the Semi Finals this season. Junior Taylor Mikell led the CVU offense hitting .444 with 18 RBIs. Senior Kyle Brooks hit .411 and Senior Dana Jokela hit 404. Senior Tom Tarracciano went 4-0 on the mound to lead the CVU pitching staff that posted a team ERA of 1.42. Senior Rick Nold posted 45 Ks in 34 2/3 innings with a 1.21 ERA. Seniors Brooks, Nold, and Sam Titus went on to make the Twin State All Star Team.
2003: Varsity outscored it's opponents 49-7 over the four playoff games enroute to claiming the Vermont Division I State Championship in 2003. Junior Rick Nold tossed a complete game shutout in the 10-0 win vs South Burlington in the championship game. Nold tossed 16 innings over the four game playoff run, fanning 22 and posting a 0.00 ERA. Varsity set team records in 2003 by scoring 204 runs, 235 hits, a team .381 batting average, committing just 14 errors in 20 games, and a posting a record 18 wins. Senior Andrew Chamberlin led the offense with 33 RBIs, 4 home runs, and a .472 average. Chamberlin closed his junior and senior year with a total of 63 RBIs in 32 games. Other season highlights included Senior Adam Bufano with 23 stolen bases, Senior Thomas Hamel hit .434, Senior Craig Bunten hit .373 and drove in 23, Senior Spencer Powers tossing 18 innings of scoreless relief, and Junior Rick Nold going 7-0 on the mound with a .83 ERA. Bufano, Chamberlin, and Hamel went on to make the Twin State All-Star Team.
2002: Senior Chris Simon led CVU by hitting .484, stole 18 bags, and hit two game winning home runs. Simon went on to make the Twin State All-Star team. Teammate Andrew Chamberlin sets two CVU records with 6 home runs and 30 RBIs in the regular season. CVU Varsity sets a record with 14 wins, while the JV wins a record 16 games.
2001: Senior Taylor Blades led CVU in 6 offensive categories and went on to make the Metro North All - Star Team and VT Twin State All-Star Team.
2000: Senior Bobby Primo captures 'Metro Player of the Year' honors in Metro North, sporting a .600 average. Primo and teammate Ben Psaros made the Twin State All-Star team. Varsity Head Coach Adam Provost shares head Coaching duties with Steve Ferreira form Essex for the Vermont Twin-State All-Star team.
1999: Junior catcher Bobby Primo threw out and / or picked off 22 runners in 18 games. Senior Ty Walentosky captures 'Co- Metro Player of the Year' honors in Metro North and make the Twin State All-Star Team. Varsity Head Coach Adam Provost is named as one of the Assistant Coaches of the VT Twin State All-Star Team.
5/14/98: Senior Rod Amidon hit four home runs, went 5 for 5 on the day, and had 8 RBIs on the day to help lead CVU over St. Johnsbury 18-8. Amidon goes on to get 'Metro South Player of the Year' honors and makes the Twin State All-Star team.
5/7 and 5/9/98: Ben Psaros hit grand slams in back to back games. Psaros added another home run on 5/11 to make it three consecutive games with a home run.
1995: 'CVU Baseball' becomes the first high school baseball web site in Vermont. Shortly after the CVU Baseball web page appeared, the 'Vermont Metro Baseball' web site appeared in 1996, becoming the first high school baseball league web site in the USA. The Metro site features league schedules, tournament information, history, league leader statistics, and collaboration between Metro schools to develop content. With the evolution of the Metro Baseball site, many VT baseball teams were brought to the internet.

Other season highlights included Senior Adam Bufano with 23 stolen bases, Senior Thomas Hamel hit .434, Senior Craig Bunten hit .373 and drove in 23, Senior Spencer Powers tossing 18 innings of scoreless relief, and Junior Rick Nold going 7-0 on the mound with a .83 ERA. Bufano, Chamberlin, and Hamel went on to make the Twin State All-Star Team.
2002: Senior Chris Simon led CVU by hitting .484, stole 18 bags, and hit two game winning home runs. Simon went on to make the Twin State All-Star team. Teammate Andrew Chamberlin sets two CVU records with 6 home runs and 30 RBIs in the regular season. CVU Varsity sets a record with 14 wins, while the JV wins a record 16 games.
2001: Senior Taylor Blades led CVU in 6 offensive categories and went on to make the Metro North All - Star Team and VT Twin State All-Star Team.
2000: Senior Bobby Primo captures 'Metro Player of the Year' honors in Metro North, sporting a .600 average. Primo and teammate Ben Psaros made the Twin State All-Star team. Varsity Head Coach Adam Provost shares head Coaching duties with Steve Ferreira form Essex for the Vermont Twin-State All-Star team.
1999: Junior catcher Bobby Primo threw out and / or picked off 22 runners in 18 games. Senior Ty Walentosky captures 'Co- Metro Player of the Year' honors in Metro North and make the Twin State All-Star Team. Varsity Head Coach Adam Provost is named as one of the Assistant Coaches of the VT Twin State All-Star Team.
5/14/98: Senior Rod Amidon hit four home runs, went 5 for 5 on the day, and had 8 RBIs on the day to help lead CVU over St. Johnsbury 18-8. Amidon goes on to get 'Metro South Player of the Year' honors and makes the Twin State All-Star team.
5/7 and 5/9/98: Ben Psaros hit grand slams in back to back games. Psaros added another home run on 5/11 to make it three consecutive games with a home run.
1995: 'CVU Baseball' becomes the first high school baseball web site in Vermont. Shortly after the CVU Baseball web page appeared, the 'Vermont Metro Baseball' web site appeared in 1996, becoming the first high school baseball league web site in the USA. The Metro site features league schedules, tournament information, history, league leader statistics, and collaboration between Metro schools to develop content. With the evolution of the Metro Baseball site, many VT baseball teams were brought to the internet.
